Reset a Stream
Resetting a stream disconnects the current ingest session and restarts the media processing pipeline for that stream. After a reset, when the encoder reconnects, the platform applies the latest transcoding templates, presets, and configuration associated with the stream.
When to Reset a Stream
A stream reset is useful in the following situations:
- A transcoding template or preset has been updated and must take effect without waiting for the encoder to naturally reconnect.
- The media processing pipeline for a stream has entered an error state and requires a restart.
- An operator needs to force a clean ingest session for a stream that is behaving unexpectedly.
Resetting a stream immediately disconnects the current ingest session. Any viewers consuming the stream will experience an interruption until the encoder reconnects and the pipeline restarts. Coordinate with the stream operator before performing a reset on a live broadcast.
Steps to Reset a Stream
- Navigate to Stream Management > Streams.
- Locate the target stream in the list using the available filters if needed.
- In the Operations column, click Reset.
- Review the confirmation prompt and click Confirm.
The platform disconnects the active ingest session and restarts the pipeline. The stream's Status column updates to reflect the new state. The encoder must reconnect to resume streaming.
After the encoder reconnects following a reset, verify that the stream's Status returns to an active state and that the expected transcoding presets are applied before considering the operation complete.
