AES Gateway

Overview​

AES Gateway is an HLS AES-128 key server for both VOD and live. It issues and gates content keys, so only authorised players can decrypt your segments, and gives you live logs and metrics on key requests.

When to use it​

Use the AES Gateway when you need lightweight content protection for HLS streams — encrypting segments and controlling key access — without a full studio-DRM licence.

Activate​

AES Gateway is self-serve from the Partner Portal:

  1. Open Services → Media & Streaming → AES Gateway.
  2. Review the plan and click Activate. VNETWORK provisions the service for your organization.
  3. When provisioning finishes, the card opens into the AES Gateway console.

Activation is scoped to your current project. Switch projects from the portal header before activating if you keep environments separate.
